• Survival Tip: Learn what a game is capable of. Look at the engine and technology behind it. When dealing in alphas you never know what you will get. You can, however, learn what you are not going to get. If someone builds a game on an old engine it will have limited capabilities. You will not get DirectX 10+ support, fancy lighting and textures. It will not be capable of doing what you see in AAA games today. Before you buy don’t be afraid to look at what the game is built on. It is very possible that what you see in the alpha release of the game is as good as it will get.
